More than 1 crore sacrificial animals for this year‍‍`s Eid-Ul-Azha

Ahead of the holy Eid-ul-Azha, the number of animals that can be sacrificed in the country this year is 1 crore 25 lakh 36 thousand 333. Which is 4 lakh 11 thousand 944 more than last year. Among the animals eligible for sacrifice are 48 lakh 43 thousand 752 cows and buffaloes, 76 lakh 90 thousand goats and sheep, and 2 thousand 581 other types of cattle.

This year the demand for sacrificial animals is 1 crore 3 lakh 94 thousand 739. Accordingly, there is a surplus of 21 lakh 41 thousand 594 products.
Like last year, this year too there is sufficient stock of cattle, said the Department of Livestock Services. This year, 8 lakh 95 thousand 454 of the fattened sacrificial animals stored in the country are in Dhaka division.

Among other districts, 8 lakh 95 thousand 454 in Dhaka division, 20 lakh 53 thousand 128 in Chittagong division, 45 lakh 11 thousand 614 in Rajshahi division, 15 lakh 11 thousand 708 in Khulna division, 4 lakh 93 thousand 206 in Barisal division, 4 lakh 10 thousand 225 in Sylhet division, 19 lakh 62 thousand 951in Rajshahi division and 6 lakh 98 thousand 47 in Mymensingh division has sacrificial cattle.

Last year, the total number of cattle that could be sacrificed during the holy Eid-ul-Azha was 121 lakh 24 thousand 389 across the country. And the number of sacrificed animals was 99 lakh 21 thousand 941.

Compared to 2022, the percentage growth of sacrificial animals this year is 3.40.
